E-GEM: European GNSS-R Environmental Monitoring
E-GEM is a collaborative project of the FP7-SPACE program of the European Community. Its goal is to evolve the current status of GNSS Reflectometry (GNSS-R) methods for the purpose of Earth monitoring, paving the way for operational applications in the domains of ocean, cryosphere and land monitoring. E-GEM brings together lead experts in GNSS-R technologies and experienced teams in Earth Observation, in order to address the data needs and requirements of GMES services and other Earth monitoring initiatives. E-GEM makes use of the synergies between different data scales and resolutions obtained from ground, air and spaceborne GNSS-R instruments, as well as from the merging with multispectral and other sensors for improving product data and coverage.

GRASS: GNSS Reflectometry Analysis for biomaSS monitoring
The focus of this research was the study of GNSS reflected signals (GNSS-R) from vegetated areas in order to address the feasibility of monitoring vegetation biomass with this remote sensing technique. During the GRASS project two airborne experimental campaigns were carried out. Crops at different growth stages, as well as tree fields with different biomass, have been observed. The results suggest the good prospects of GNSS-R for above ground biomass monitoring.
LEiMON: Land Monitoring with Navigation Signals
The purpose of the LEiMON study was to gain deep understanding on the mechanisms driving the interaction between land surface parameters such as soil moisture, soil roughness and vegetation, and GNSS signals. A long term experimental campaign was conducted in which continuous GNSS-R and ground-truth data were recorded from a ground-based platform. Also, a GNSS-R simulator over land was developed in order to reproduce measurements of GNSS-R scattered signals from ground-based, airborne, and spaceborne platforms.
